Your compliance year

A tax calendar with two kinds of deadlines

Some IRAS deadlines fall on the same date every year. Others are triggered by an event — your financial year-end, an employee leaving, or a share transfer. HeySara tracks both.

Fixed annual dates

  • 31 January — Property tax payable for the year, based on Annual Value as at 1 Jan.
  • 30 November — Form C or Form C-S due for the preceding Year of Assessment — no extensions granted.
  • Ongoing, per notice — IRAS enforcement actions (Notice of Assessment, composition fees) begin the day after a missed deadline.

Trigger-based deadlines

  • 3 months after the financial year-end — file ECI, unless your company qualifies for the ECI waiver.
  • Quarterly — GST-registered businesses e-file Form 5 within one month of every calendar quarter’s end, even if “NIL”.
  • 1 month before a work pass holder leaves your company or Singapore — file Form IR21 and withhold final pay.
14 / 30 days after a share transfer document is signed (in / outside Singapore) — stamp duty falls due.
  • By the 15th of the second month after paying a non-resident — withholding tax is due to IRAS.

Frequently asked questions

Common questions about Singapore tax filing

Most companies file Form C, Form C-S, or Form C-S (Lite), depending on annual revenue and whether you’re claiming any tax reliefs. We confirm which one applies before filing.

Estimated Chargeable Income (ECI) is due within 3 months of your financial year-end. Your full Form C or Form C-S return is due by 30 November of the following year — there are no extensions on this date.

Registration is compulsory once your taxable turnover exceeds $1 million in a 12-month period. Below that, you can register voluntarily — useful if you want to claim input tax on business expenses, but it commits you to staying registered for at least 2 years.

9%, effective since 1 January 2024. This is charged on standard-rated supplies and remitted to IRAS on a quarterly basis.

IRAS can issue an estimated Notice of Assessment, offer to compound the offence for a fee, or in continued non-compliance, summon company directors to Court. Late corporate tax filings and late GST filings are both treated as offences under their respective Acts.

Only for non-citizen employees (including PRs, in some situations) who resign, are posted overseas, or leave Singapore for more than 3 months. Singapore citizens and several lower-income or short-term non-resident categories are exempt.

No — the rate depends on your property’s Annual Value and whether it’s owner-occupied, rented out, or used commercially. Rates have been revised more than once in recent years, so we check the current bracket before advising on your specific bill.

Yes — but under Singapore law, company directors remain personally responsible for the accuracy and timeliness of what’s filed, even when the preparation work is outsourced.
