SSIC Code

The Singapore Standard Industrial Classification (SSIC) code is a 5-digit code that describes a company’s primary business activity. It appears on a company’s Bizfile profile and is used across government agencies — including ACRA, IRAS, and MOM — for regulatory, statistical, and licensing purposes. Getting the right SSIC code matters, since an inaccurate one can affect grant eligibility, licensing requirements, and even tax assessments.

Choosing an SSIC code at incorporation

Every company must declare a business activity and corresponding SSIC code during company incorporation. A company can hold both a primary and a secondary SSIC code if it carries out more than one type of business activity.

SSIC 2025

SSIC is reviewed and updated periodically by the Singapore Department of Statistics (SingStat), in line with the United Nations’ International Standard Industrial Classification (ISIC). The latest revision, SSIC 2025, took effect on 9 May 2026, replacing SSIC 2020. It’s a substantial revision:

• Over 1,500 codes revised, with some merged and others split into more specific sub-categories
• New codes added for emerging sectors, including AI, digital platforms, renewable energy, and climate technology
• The classification now has 22 sections (up from 21), aligned with ISIC Revision 5
• The former Section J (“Information and Communications”) was split into two: a new Section J covering publishing, broadcasting, and content production, and a new Section K covering telecommunications, computer programming, and other information services

Did my SSIC code change automatically?

ACRA’s Bizfile system automatically mapped every existing entity’s SSIC 2020 code to its closest SSIC 2025 equivalent using SingStat’s official correspondence table. In most cases, no action is needed — if a company’s actual business activity hasn’t changed, the new auto-mapped code should still accurately describe it.

A company should check and manually update its SSIC code if:

• The auto-mapped code doesn’t accurately reflect what the business actually does
• The business’s activity has changed independently of the SSIC revision
• The company holds a sector-specific licence or grant tied to its old SSIC code
